Mauro Schmid during stage 2 of the 2026 Tour Down Under
This week's update features points scored in one-day races Clásica de Almería, Clásica Jaén Paraíso Interior and Figueira Champions Classic, as well as stage races Tour of Oman, Vuelta a la Región de Murcia and Tour de la Provence. The Asian road race continental championships are also included.
You can check the previous UCI Rankings update here. Mauro Schmid remains on top of the 2026 leaderboard, extending his lead to over 400 points. The Swiss rider has proven to be in outstanding shape at the beginning of the 2026 season, and he added one victory to his tally last week, which was the third stage of the Tour of Oman. He also finished fourth in the final GC, earning 120 points.
Jay Vine is still in second, even if it has been almost one month since he competed for the last time. The Aussie won the Tour Down Under, the first World Tour race of the season, which allows him to hang onto the podium. He is however just 10 points ahead of third place, who is now Cristian Scaroni.

Scaroni has been one of the strongest riders during the early season
The Astana rider has also started the season in outstanding shape, and he won the Tour of Oman last week plus the final stage, which helped him seal the overall. He obtained 290 points in the Middle East, which were almost enough to storm the second place. He will most likely overtake Vine during the week, since Scaroni is set to compete in France over the weekend.
We also have a new face in fourth place, named António Morgado. The Portuguese rider won the Figueira Champions Classic for the second year in a row, earning 250 points. He has a total of 588.6 points, and he has finished in the top 10 in all the seven races he has competed in so far.

In the year-long rankings, Tadej Pogacar obviously remains firmly in control, almost doubling the second place which is Jonas Vingegaard. The top 3 is not going to change until the next weeks, once the biggest stars begin their season. That might happen very soon, as Del Toro is leading UAE at the UAE Tour this week, while Vingegaard did not make his season debut there due to the crash he suffered while training in Spain.
The top 10 is exactly the same, but it might change very soon as the aforementioned Cristian Scaroni keeps climbing in the rankings and sits now in 11th place, less than 100 points behind Jay Vine. The Italian thus has a real chance to enter the top 10 for the first time in his career.
A few riders who achieved great results througout the past week have climbed a handful of positions. It is the case of Biniam Girmay, who is now in 38th place thanks to his sprint victory at the Clásica de Almería, which was worth it 250 points.
Matthew Riccitello jumped 12 positions, as he won the Tour de la Provence after a hard-fought battle against Spaniard Carlos Rodríguez. The American rider had a successful Decathlon CMA CGM Team debut and is now 62nd in the rankings.
The rider climbing the most spots inside the top 100 was Yevgeniy Fedorov, who gained 57 places. The Astana rider won the Asian contintental championships, securing 250 UCI points. Perhaps an excessive reward, but it allowed him to enter the top 100 nonetheless.
On the other hand, the rider losing the most positions was an Astana rider again, Max Kanter. The German rider has barely competed this year, and he did not go to Clásica de Almería, so he could not defend the second place he got in 2025.
