Christian Scaroni is putting Astana in the spotlight and as of this week, he is the rider who has scored the most UCI points (despite not even being the World Tour). Astana as a whole continue to move forward, and we've got some meaningful and interesting developments in the rankings this week including Jasper Philipsen, Jonas Vingegaard and Wout van Aert.
You can check the previous update. The Top3 had until the last update been occupied by the riders who raced and finished the Tour Down Under in the podium. Now, this is no longer the case, as XDS Astana Team's Christian Scaroni is flying through the opening months of the season and has gathered already 795 points. The Italian has fifth at the Faun-Ardèche Classic and second at the Trofeo Laigueglia and this was enough to propel him into the lead.
The likes of Paul Magnier, Jasper Philipsen and Juan Ayuso (the latter only started his season on Saturday and raced three days) have jumped into the Top10 of point scorers in this update, due to their strong results over the past few days.

In the year-long rankings Tadej Pogacar obviously remains in the lead, followed by Remco Evenepoel but the Belgian is having a hot pursuit from two riders who are set to get much closer to him. Jasper Philipsen was on the podium of Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and Kuurne-Bruxelles-Kuurne, gathering over 400 points. Mathieu van der Poel has won Le Samyn, and although those points are not yet taken into account in this update, he won another 125. Jonas Vingegaard lost his points from last year's O Gran Camiño and has come back down the two positions he gained last week. Riders such as Wout van Aert, Maxim van Gils, Tim Wellens, Christophe Laporte and Nils Politt lost many positions due to losing last year's points over.
On the opposite side of the spectrum we've got Omloop het Nieuwsblad winner Soren Waerenskjold climbing to 51st (gaining 32 positions); Gran Camiño winner climbing to 60th (gaining 16) whilst Astana riders Clément Champoussin and Lorenzo Fortunato entered the Top100 due to their strong performances over the weekend in the French classics.
