UAE Team Emirates' Portuguese sensation Antonio Morgado has taken victory at Giro della Romagna after a frantic day of climbing in Italy.
After eight riders had managed to get themselves into the day's breakaway, as they began their laps of the ascents of the Bagnolo, the group quickly disintegrated, with Filippo d'Aiuto of General Store - Essegibi - F.Lli Curia proving strongest. With less than 30km to go, though, the Italian had company once again, most notably from Antonio Morgado and Mattia Bais.
As the five-man lead group summited the Bagnolo for the final time, they still held a narrow advantage over the peloton. In a thrilling finale, it was Antonio Morgado who proved the quickest, taking the win his first professional win.
