Baloise - Trek Lions' Thibau Nys has been confirmed as a signing for Trek - Segafredo from 2023 onwards. The cyclocross rising star and road under-23 European champion has been a part of Trek's off-road projects, and is set to make the move onto World Tour level.
"I feel honored to become part of Trek-Segafredo. I think this is the right step at the right time to get myself on the highest level," he said. "Riding in the WorldTour on the road has always been a dream and to realize that on a Trek bike makes it even more special. This way I can combine road racing at the highest level with racing cyclocross at the highest level at Baloise Trek Lions."

Thibau is the son of cyclocross legend Sven Nys, and has for several years been hinted towards the highest level due to his early evolution and involvement in the cycling world. Sure enough he has been one of the most successful riders at under-23 level, both in CX and on the road, where he became European champion last year in Trento.
Team manager Luca Guarcilena explained how the transfer came about: “Thibau being part of the Trek family already put him firmly on our radar of rising talents. His cyclocross results speak for themselves, but when he won the European road title it made him even more interesting for us," he said in the press release. "Thibau is keen to move ahead with his road racing career..."
These past few weeks Nys has rode to a third spot on the Antwerp Port Epic and has won the Flèche du Sud. Contacts were likely already existing, but the American team took no time to confirm their young prodigy as he very quickly started to obtain strong results in the Elite ranks.
