Tour of Turkey: Caleb Ewan wins stage six uphill sprint

Caleb Ewan has taken his second win of the week, this one in a harder scenario though as he battled up the final hilltop finish to take a strong and important win for Lotto Soudal in the sixth stage of the Tour of Turkey,

Despite being a stage suited to a bunch sprint, it didn't come as a relaxed day as the strong wind caused quite some tension in the peloton and inside the final 40 kilometers there had been splits. However, with some less exposed areas the peloton went relatively compact into the final hilltop finish.

The final three kilometers saw a relatively uphill finish into Eceabat, in which Israel - Premier Tech made it hard from the bottom for the aspirations of Patrick Bevin. However there was the lack of firepower to make a real difference, and Lotto Soudal took the head of the peloton inside the final kilometer with Caleb Ewan in the best position.

In the final sprint Danny van Poppel tried to surprise, however the Australian was on a strong day and took a dominant win in the slight uphill ramps. He beat Danny van Poppel and Jasper Philipsen to the line.
