Too fast for Strava? Paul Seixas smashes Tadej Pogacar’s Civiglio times as eight segments are rejected after Il Lombardia

Paul Seixas in action at Il Lombardia 2026
Paul Seixas’ attack on Civiglio was already the defining image of Il Lombardia. A day later, the Strava file from that winning ride has added another layer to it, with the 20-year-old beating Tadej Pogacar’s recorded 2022 times on both displayed sections of the climb and, according to RMC, seeing eight other segments rejected by the platform as performances deemed unlikely without assistance.
Seixas made his move around 19 kilometres from the finish, first putting Remco Evenepoel and Isaac del Toro into difficulty before Tom Pidcock and Giulio Ciccone also lost contact. He rode on alone to Como, finishing 48 seconds ahead of Enric Mas and becoming the youngest winner in Il Lombardia history.

Faster than Pogacar on both Civiglio sections

The first of the two Civiglio segments shown in Seixas’ Strava data was covered in 8:45 at 19.8 km/h, with Ciccone next at 9:04 and Pogacar’s 2022 time standing at 9:09. On the second, Seixas posted 7:08 at 18.8 km/h, compared with Pogacar’s 7:29 at 17.9 km/h.
That puts Seixas 24 seconds quicker on the first section and 21 seconds quicker on the second, although the comparison is with Pogacar’s 2022 data rather than the level the Slovenian has reached since.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reported more of the numbers from Civiglio, listing Seixas at 460 watts on average with a peak of 620 watts across the 4.1-kilometre climb at around 9.8%. His average speed was given as 19.86 km/h, with a VAM of 2,031 metres per hour, while the full effort reportedly came in at under 12 minutes and around half a minute quicker than Pogacar’s previous benchmark.
Those figures also fit with Seixas’ own account of the move. He had expected a harder pace at the foot of the climb and, when it did not come, decided to go earlier than planned rather than wait. Once he had created the gap, he described the run to the finish as a time trial against himself.

Eight segments rejected by Strava

The most unusual part of the upload came away from the two Civiglio comparisons.
RMC reported that eight segments were excluded by Strava, with the platform judging the performances unlikely to have been achieved without assistance. The Civiglio times themselves remained visible, leaving Seixas ahead of Pogacar’s 2022 marks on both sections shown in the article.
For a rider who had already made history on the road the previous afternoon, the data offered a second look at just how hard that winning move had been. Civiglio had decided Lombardia; by Sunday morning, the numbers from it were becoming a story of their own.
