Tom Pidcock: "I finished this Olympic dream with no regrets"

The Olympic Games are over for the riders that have put their focus on the road and mountain biking events. Tom Pidcock is one very specific case of a rider who focused on both and managed to get a gold medal out of it. He has shared a post on Instagram giving his final thoughts on a very successful stint in Paris.

"Paris over and out. I left everything that was left on the roads around Paris. The rollercoaster of the last few months took its toll and I wasn’t near my best but I finished this Olympic dream with no regrets," he wrote. This was regarding the road race in which he finished 13th, next to Mathieu van der Poel.

The Briton was at a strong level in a race that was to be decided by the classics riders and was able to feature among the best, but did not have the legs to be in the group that battled for the medals behind Remco Evenepoel.

Still, despite the small disappointment, it can be recorded as a very successful couple of weeks in Paris as a week before, the Briton stormed to a second gold medal in the Mountain Bike discipline, beating Victor Koretzky in a nail-biting finale where he made the winning move with seconds to go.
