With 10km to go though, the break, now down to just five riders still held hope of victory. The difference between leaders and peloton was being held at around 40 seconds and as the peloton continued to lack organisation in the chase, it was still 30 seconds with 4km to go.
In the final kilometre though, it was heartbreak for the attackers. As the sprint trains were launched, their day out front was finally brought to a close and in the end, it was Tobias Lund Andresen who powered to victory ahead of
Danny van Poppel and
Henri Uhlig.
