Stage 1 was not a good start to
Giro d'Italia for
INEOS Grenadiers' co-leader
Thymen Arensman who lost more than two minutes in a stage around Turin. His father wasn't thrilled by this and reached out to X to blame the team for messing up his son's preparation. However he later acknowledged his overreaction at the time and removed his post the next day.
Martijn Arensman received quite some reactions to this opinion – his tweets are personal in nature – and decided to delete them shortly afterward. "Yeah yeah, I'll delete and bite the dust," he later stated on his social media account.
Update: Martijn Arensman completely deleted his Twitter account.
