TotalEnergies is going through major changes this winter. Most of its current leaders have departed, the team is getting a new name and sponsorship; and it is reported that the team is not far from signing several World Tour riders to build its new core of leaders into the 2027 season.
The French team had widely been rumoured to be coming to an end this year. With its sole title sponsor TotalEnergies departing - towards Netcompany INEOS, the Vendée-based squad was left with a complicated situation at hand.
But a recent three-year deal with bike supplier Parus as well as with other brands suggests the project is not only alive and well, but may have already secured its future. The team's future name or sponsor list cannot be assured, but the team appears active on the market.
However a lot of the damage has been done. Although it had been reported that the riders were pressured not to sign any deals under risk of not being selected to the Tour de France, many teams took advantage of the team's fragile situation to snatch up its leaders.

Aside from not having any confirmed signing thus far, the team has seen the confirmed departure of many of its riders - including all leaders. Jordan Jegat, Top10 at the previous two Tour de France editions, will be joining Lidl-Trek.
2024 Tour stage winner Anthony Turgis and breakout climber Nicolas Breuillard are heading to XDS Astana Team; Alexandre Delettre, Emilien Jeannière and Sandy Dujardin are heading to Groupama - FDJ United; Mathieu Burgeaudeau, Thomas Bonnet and Mattéo Vercher are heading towards Burgos Burpellet BH; whilst Pierre Thierry is heading towards Cofidis.
Aside from these names, Geoffrey Bouchard, Fabien Grellier and Lorrenzo Manzin have already confirmed their retirement from the sport. As it stands, 15 riders are still not official elsewhere, including the likes of Jason Tesson, Thibault Guernalec and Alexys Brunel who could form a second line of leaders for 2027.

Dylan Teuns may join TotalEnergies

But the team is already active in the market, and according to Het Laatste Nieuws, it is in talks with several World Tour riders. These include Dylan Teuns, former Tour de France stage and La Flèche Wallonne winner, who may land himself a new leadership deal in a new French ProTeam - he currently races for Cofidis.
But the team is also chasing other riders who can both perform in the classics and the sprints. Simon Dehairs of Alpecin - Premier Tech could become a new sprint leader; whilst Astana's Arjen Livyns and NSN's Tom van Asbroeck might find themselves joining the French team, taking a step down from the World Tour but finding themselves in more advantageous positions towards their individual ambitions. The team has also been linked with Team Flanders - Baloise's Dylan Vandenstorme.
