Uno-X Mobility is objectively the third strongest team at PRT-level, however their participation at Grand Tours never comes as granted. In 2025, they applied for all three of them, but we enter the third month of this year and management of the Norwegian-Danish team still lacks clear answers from race organizers.
Sports director Emil Vinjebo tells Feltet.dk that things are getting a little busy, especially in the logistical departments of the team: "We want certainty. Especially our logistics people. There is a huge logistical task behind a grand tour. Hotels have to be booked and a huge mess has to be solved when riders, bikes, buses and staff are going to cycle races for three weeks."
In terms of sport, there is also a big task ahead of a grand tour. So as sports director, Vinjebo also hopes for a quick clarification. "We want our riders to peak at the right times. Right now it's working, but we want to make individual plans for our riders. So we'd like to have an answer to that soon."
Normally, invitations to the Tour de France are handed out as early as January. We've now entered March, and there are no news. Vinjebo however hopes that the wait is coming to an end. "I think we'll get an answer within a week or two. That's my gut feeling and what I've heard."
Rumors have been circulating for a long time about why there have been no wildcards. Cyclingnews has previously reported that the Giro and Vuelta organizers are exploring the possibility of inviting an additional team this year. In the same article, Tour organizers ASO refuse to comment on whether they are exploring the same option. Uno-X Mobility is in the mix for all three Grand Tours - for now.
The Scandivanian team is however not putting all their eggs in the French basket. Recent victory of Soren Waerenskjold at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad confirms the complexity of their ambitions.
"There are also other cycling races than the Tour de France, and Uno-X Mobility's vision goes far beyond riding the Tour this year. We want to establish ourselves as a team that can ride the Tour for many years to come. So we hope to ride the Tour, but there are a lot of other things we want to ride as well."
