The organizers of the
Maryland Cycling Classic, the only .Pro race in the in North American calendar, have announced that their race cannot take place this year. However the organization wants to put the American competition back on the calendar in 2025.
The reason for the cancellation is traffic-related. In late March, the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed after a cargo ship struck the bridge. And that accident causes permanent traffic problems. About 30,000 people have to take a longer route every day, along roads that would also be included in the Maryland Cycling Classic, Cyclingnews reports.
