Sebastian Langeveld will combine team leadership at
EF Education-EasyPost with his new role as head of scouting at the WorldTeam. His management SEG Cycling reported this on social media.
The now 38-year-old former cyclist was already involved in scouting for the American team. For example, together with the other scouts, he recruited the Dutch club rider Jardi van der Lee. "I did not do that alone, but I am partly responsible for scouting and recruitment," Langeveld said after that surprising transfer. Now he will be ultimately responsible for scouting.
Langeveld also remains active at EF Education-EasyPost as sports director. He will mainly be in the support car during the spring classics, his specialty as a rider. The former rider made his debut in that role last year. "In fact, I have been an extension of the team management in recent years," he said in April. "Only I'm on the other side now. But I think it is a healthy interaction, that it is balanced."
"On the bike I could read the race fairly well and act accordingly. Just transferring that from the car to the riders in a constructive way is a challenge. I have never underestimated that, but I am well aware that transferring tactical considerations from the car is something completely different than when you are on your bike. The influence of the car on riders is not as great as people think."
