  Yes, unless someone is already expected to leave. Maybe Ayuso was just passing through like Prim at RB? Or, Schleck’s arrival is bringing along a cultural/linguistic reorientation of the team. Or, they’re just spreading their bets like at the start of Monopoly, hoping if they soak up as many potential assets as possible, one of them will work out and the others can be « sold » on. I say sold but isn’t it strange cycling doesn’t follow e.g. football, why aren’t riders attributed transfer value before contracts end?

  You live in a very small part of the world though, far smaller than a collection of online sites. I experienced the same, living somewhere in the past, but that bunch of random people, so proud to be able to « associate themselves » with a TdF winner were always extremely frustrated when they went on holidays and discovered almost nobody had heard of their « famous » countryman. Along the lines : So, which country do you come from? I’m from X, you know, where so and so is from. Sorry, never heard of him. How you can imagine everyone must have heard of Pog is a mystery to me. Am sure I could ask you the name of half the worlds’ leaders or other sports’ most known athletes and you’d be stumped. Why would it be different for cycling? In fact, the morning after the Vuelta and Ultimate championships ended, the national news summary here (somewhere in Europe) had only ONE mention of any sport results, neither of those, not national or international football or the Solheim cup or any number of well attended events, no, it was the US open. Which leads me to an observation you may be able to agree with, considering all the current and past important and interesting events reported on worldwide, don’t you get the feeling there is a certain biais towards certain ones? Why do we hear so much everywhere about US rocket launches, and sports events the rest of the world hardly watches or cares about? For movies and music it’s kind of understandable and expected but if you ask me, many media are either paid or pressured in some way into which events to include in their news reports.

  Trying to outrun MVDP at a pointless moment caused him to crash at P-R, almost the same scenario against Wout, trying to beat Remco at the Tour TT despite a 5m lead, etc. as good as he is at picking his moments to attack (not rocket science seeing as everyone predicts them in advance) as bad he is about choosing when to go past his limits. Yes, he is lucky there are Mas, Moho and more angels looking over him

  The unfolding of the race is far more determinant than any of the main protagonists’ strengths or last race performance. They are all capable of winning and it will mostly depend on who does what or not when.
