Pogacar hits another huge milestone - The incredible record held only by Jalabert and Quintana that he just matched

Tadej Pogacar keeps stacking up historic milestones. The Slovenian has become the third rider to win at least one stage across the ten flagship stage races on the international calendar, a list comprising the three Grand Tours and the seven most prestigious one-week WorldTour events.

Until now, only two riders had completed the set: Laurent Jalabert, who did it in 2000, and Nairo Quintana, who matched it in 2020. Pogacar joins the club in 2026 after opening his account at the Tour de Suisse, a race he debuted in this year where he won Stage 1 after a long solo break.

For Pogacar, the final missing piece was the Tour de Suisse. His victory on the opening stage of the 2026 edition completed the collection and placed him on a shortlist that had remained unchanged since Quintana matched it in 2020.

The stat also highlights how exclusive the feat is. For over two decades, Jalabert stood alone as the only rider to win stages in all ten major stage races. Quintana became the second to do so, and now, six years later, Pogacar is the third.

With this victory, the Slovenian adds another landmark to a palmarès that already featured stage wins in the three Grand Tours and the rest of the one-week WorldTour races. His success in Switzerland closes the only gap left in this select historical list.

His first win within this elite group of the 10 major stage races came at the Vuelta a España 2026, the race where he announced himself to the wider public by finishing third overall. He won three stages, the first on Stage 9 between Andorra la Vella and Cortals d’Encamp, dropping everyone to win solo ahead of Nairo Quintana and Primoz Roglic.

The second also arrived at another Grand Tour, the 2020 Tour de France that he would snatch from Roglic in the La Planche des Belles Filles time trial. He raised his arms at the Grande Boucle for the first time on Stage 9, a day starting in Pau and finishing in Laruns. He won the sprint of the favourites ahead of Roglic and Hirschi.

In 2021 he added two more firsts in new races, his initial successes in shorter stage races: he won Stage 4 of Tirreno–Adriatico at Prati di Tivo and Stage 3 of Itzulia at Ermualde.

In 2022 he did not add any new events to the list, but in 2023 he opened his Paris–Nice account by winning Stage 4 to La Loge des Gardes. From 2024 he began to fine-tune his calendar to close the circle, winning at the Volta a Catalunya on Stage 2 to Vallter 2000 and, on his Giro d’Italia debut, also on Stage 2 at the Santuario di Oropa.

At the Dauphiné he won Stage 1 in 2025 at Montluçon, leaving only the two Swiss stage races, both of which he has raced in 2026. After blowing up Romandie, he has started the Tour de Suisse by sealing the set. It’s worth noting these are stage wins; as for general classifications, if he wins Switzerland as expected, only Itzulia would remain for him to further elevate an already incredible palmarès.
