"The case is now in the hands of the judiciary" - Europol end Bahrain Victorious investigation

In 2021 Bahrain Victorious suffered a raid at their hotel at the Tour de France, and before the Grand Boucle again in 2022 the operation continued with a raid over many different nations supported by Europol. Now, the entity has withdrawn from the ongoing investigation, which has not led to the suspension of any rider.

“The operational phase of the coordinated action against the use of prohibited substances in cycling races is over," Europol told Cyclingweekly. "Europol supported the operational phase by deploying its officers in the participating countries to facilitate the exchange of information and provide forensic support for the seized electronic devices. The case is now in the hands of the judiciary."

In June of this year police has searched simultaneously riders and staff from France, Belgium, Spain, Croatia, Italy, Poland, and Slovenia. The team has always denied any wrongdoing, and no apparent conclusion has came from the searches.

This year Bahrain has won Milano-Sanremo with Matej Mohoric, Flèche Wallone with Dylan Teuns and achieved several high results throughout the season including a 3rd place at the Giro d'Italia and Il Lombardia by Mikel Landa who springed back to his best level.
