The
Tour de France Femmes saw a horrible day for
Team SD Worx on the fifth stage of the Tour de France Femmes, and it's DS Danny Stam was taken out of the race after dangerous behaviour when trying to help Demi Vollering after a mechanical.
“Do I agree? We can't change anything anymore. The decision has been made. I can find something about it, but that doesn't change anything," Stam told Eurosport this morning. "The UCI came to tell me this morning. But they didn't give a really clear reason. They asked if I could speak French, but that's not so easy for me. Then they said in English: you cannot continue in the Tour de France because of the accident yesterday. This decision will not affect my riders in the last few days."
Stam was taken out of the French race this morning after a lot of consideration, his behaviour on yesterday's stage was too much for the organizers to keep him in, with the footage of him overtaking cars and riders as he was trying to bring back Demi Vollering to the peloton being quite difficult to ignore.
The Dutch rider herself was quite unhappy with the decision to penalize her with 20 seconds which can be crucial in the fight for the overall classification, she is a contender for the win. Team SD Worx experienced a hard day after also having seen Lorena Wiebes abandon with gastrointestinal problems.
