Tadej Pogacar leads UAE Team Emirates at Il Lombardia - "I won on this parcours two years ago, so it suits me"

UAE Team Emirates have confirmed their lineup for Il Lombardia and they are aiming for the victory. Tadej Pogacar leads the lineup in search of a hattrick, coming in with good form and together with Primoz Roglic taking over the main favourite status.

Adam Yates will be a very strong pawn for the team to play, having a route suited to the climbers this year completely. He will, as in the Tour de France, be an important card and contender for the podium, with Rafal Majka and Davide Formolo also riders who are expected to help push the pace quite hard. Marc Hirschi comes in with great form but should have his own freedom to chase results as the team aim for UCI points and he shouldn't perform as well in the long climbs. Diego Ulissi and Sjoerd Bax complete the lineup.

“It’s one of the five biggest one-day races of the calendar. It suits the climbers, so it suits me as well, and it’s the last race of the season normally for me," Pogacar commented. "It’s a big race, a long race, tough climbs and you really need to be in good shape to finish well. I won on this parcours two years ago, so it suits me.”

UAE Team Emirates for Il Lombardia:

Sjoerd Bax, Davide Formolo, Marc Hirschi, Rafal Majka, Tadej Pogacar, Diego Ulissi and Adam Yates.
