"We want to make Primoz's farewell race an exceptional one" - Jumbo-Visma look to take Roglic to Il Lombardia victory

Jumbo-Visma and Primoz Roglic are going their separate ways at the end of the ongoing season but they still have the chance to win a monument together. The Slovenian was confirmed to join BORA - hansgrohe this morning by the German team, but at the time being he gears up towards Il Lombardia where he is a prime contender for victory.

"We want to end Primoz's time in our team with a top performance and hope that the polished diamond that Primoz is will shine again," DS Marc Reef said in a press release. "Primoz looked very relaxed last week. He also wants to get the best out of this race. This is also reflected in his training over the last few days. As well as winning the Tour of Emilia and finishing fourth in Tre Valli Varesine, he has also explored the Lombardy route. This shows Primoz's professionalism.”

After the Vuelta a Espana, the Slovenian has carried great form and he won the Giro dell'Emilia, directly beating Tadej Pogacar. His form looks on point, with strong climbing legs and a very tough to beat sprint, he will enter the final monument of the season as he main favourite alongside his compatriot. He won't have the same support as he's had in other races throughout the year, but it is a race where climbing legs will be the most important point.

"We have a solid group here. The guys are all motivated to excel. We did some fantastic things last year. We want to do the same in the last races of the season," he adds. "Next Saturday, we can count on a strong team that will not give up in the final. We also have a clear plan for this race. We are still in good shape at this stage of the season. The spirit of the guys is promising. We want to make Primoz's farewell race an exceptional one.”
