The preliminary startlist for Strade Bianche 2026 has been revealed, and once again, the white roads of Tuscany are set to welcome one of the strongest early-season fields in cycling. With the race returning to Siena on 7 March, the 20th edition promises another showdown between established champions and the sport’s rising generation.
Headlining the field is three-time winner Tadej Pogacar, who begins his spring campaign on terrain that has become almost synonymous with his attacking style. But he is far from alone. The list also includes Wout van Aert, Tom Pidcock, Richard Carapaz and a deep cast of Classics specialists and puncheurs.

Recent history on the white roads

Although Strade Bianche is a relatively young race compared to the Monuments, it has quickly built a roll of honour packed with elite names.
Pogacar has dominated the modern era, winning three editions, including the two most recent renewals. His long-range attack in 2024 and repeat triumph in 2025 underlined his status as the reference point for this race.
Before him, Tom Pidcock claimed a memorable solo victory in 2023, showcasing his bike handling and punch on the sterrato sectors. Earlier editions were shaped by riders such as Julian Alaphilippe and other explosive Classics contenders, reinforcing the race’s identity as a battleground for versatile climbers and aggressive attackers rather than pure sprinters.
With Siena’s steep Via Santa Caterina once again set to decide the finale, recent history suggests that boldness and endurance will be rewarded.

Standout names on the 2026 startlist

All eyes naturally fall on Pogacar and UAE Team Emirates XRG. Alongside him are Isaac del Toro, Jan Christen and Felix Grossschartner, giving the team multiple options should the race explode early on the gravel sectors.
Team Visma - Lease a Bike counter with Van Aert and Matteo Jorgenson, a pairing capable of shaping the race from distance. Van Aert’s blend of power and climbing punch makes him one of the few riders who can realistically match Pogacar on the key sectors.
Former winner Pidcock lines up for Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team, returning to a course perfectly suited to his technical skills and sharp acceleration. If the race becomes tactical rather than a long solo, his explosiveness could prove decisive in Siena.

EF Education - EasyPost field both Carapaz and Ben Healy, two riders unafraid of attacking well before the final climb.
Elsewhere, Matej Mohoric leads Bahrain Victorious with his trademark unpredictability, Valentin Madouas and Romain Gregoire strengthen the French challenge, and emerging talents such as Paul Seixas add further intrigue to an already stacked field.
With gravel sectors, steep Tuscan climbs and one of the most iconic finishes in cycling, Strade Bianche 2026 once again brings together a startlist worthy of its growing status. If recent editions are any guide, the white roads are unlikely to disappoint.
