It was already known that Scorpions Racing would disappear after this season. Mismanagement and persistent financial problems were the basis for this. It is now also clear that the company behind the team has gone bankrupt. The debt amounts to approximately €400.000, WielerFlits reports.
On Tuesday, October 31, team owner Arjan Fidder himself filed for bankruptcy of Endurance Cycling BV - the company behind Scorpions Racing - and a day later this was also pronounced by the court in Zwolle. Wim Van der Kolk of RAAD Advocaten from Zwolle has been appointed as curator to further handle the bankruptcy.
According to Van der Kolk, the investigation into the background of the bankruptcy is in full swing. "Not all creditors have reported yet, but according to an internal list the debt amounts to approximately €400.000. There is still some remaining stock to sell. The debts will be further inventoried in the near future."
The team had ambitions for the future, but for various reasons, the project never really got off the ground and of the forty days of racing that Scorpions Racing rode this year, thirty took place before May 21. One victory was achieved at UCI level, namely the second stage of the Carpathian Courier Race, won by Wessel Mouris.
