Santiago Buitrago climbs 73 places in the UCI rankings: Now second highest ranked Colombian

For another week, Tadej Pogacar is the leader of the UCI rankings. The Slovenian cyclist is currently riding an extraordinary campaign and although he fell in Liège-Bastogne-Liège, the Slovenian continues to sit at the top. The big mover of the week, however, was Santiago Buitrago, who advanced 73 after his podium in La Doyenne.

The Colombian from Bahrain Victorious is the new number 49 in the world rankings with 1130 points to his name. The best of the Colombians however is Sergio Higuita, despite the fact he has dropped 5 places this week, going from position number 16 to 21 with 1679 points.

Behind them in terms of Colombians, despite not racing in Europe, is Miguel Ángel López who occupies position number 53, well ahead of cyclists in top teams such as Esteban Chaves, Daniel Martínez, Fernando Gaviria or Rigoberto Urán. All of whom are in the top 100.

Those who appear much further back are Egan Bernal, after practically not having run at all in the last year, and Nairo Quintana, who, without a team, this season has only participated in the Colombian road championship.
