Primoz Roglic, Simon Yates and Egan Bernal during the 2026 season
The 2026 season has started and this means that a new set of riders are entering the market. With the transfer season virtually complete, now begins a new year of racing where many will rise, many will fall, and many will change colours at the end of the year. Here are the top riders whose contracts are ending in 2026.
At Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe there is the notable presence of Primoz Roglic, who might be ending his career, or potentially change teams. Perhaps even stay, much will depend on how the year goes, but the Slovenian is putting his main focus on the Vuelta a España this year and looks certain to miss the other two Grand Tours.
Simon Yates, the Giro d'Italia's defending champion, could also be on the market if Visma don't play their cards early on, as are former Giro winners such as Richard Carapaz, Jai Hindley and Egan Bernal. Tao Geoghegan Hart and Nairo Quintana are no longer racing at the same level, but are also in contract year, meaning Tadej Pogacar is the only rider who has ever won the Giro who has a publicly known contract into 2027 at the time being.
The list features Ben Healy as a major figure, the Irishman was a podium finisher at the World Championships, stage winner and yellow jersey wearer at the Tour de France, and much more this year. Jhonatan Narváez, who was crucial to Tadej Pogacar's success in 2025 is on the list, as is Arnaud de Lie who will be the ultimate leader at Lotto - Intermarché, which poses a risk to the team.
On the climber's side we've also got the likes of Felix Gall, Santiago Buitrago, Ben O'Connor, Lennet van Eetvelt, Mikel Landa and more present; Sprinters such as Jordi Meeus, Soren Waerenskjold, Pavel Bittner and Kaden Groves are here; whilst classics specialists such as Christophe Laporte, Thibau Nys, Sam Watson, Magnus Sheffield, Quinn Simmons and Kasper Asgreen could change teams.

Top World Tour riders without a contract for 2027

*Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe often does not disclose contract durations. Hence several of their riders do not belong on this list.
