According to cycling market specialist Renaud Breban, Richard Carapaz has already extended his contract with EF Education-EasyPost until the 2026 season. Thus, the Ecuadorian will remain with the American team after two solid first campaigns, especially in 2024 where the rider bounced back from injury difficulties during the 2023 season and was the team's best rider.
The winner of the 2019 Giro d'Italia comes from signing a promising 2024 with victories in the Tour Colombia, the national time trial of Ecuador, Romandie and, above all, a stage victory and the mountains jersey in the Tour de France. Carapaz was one of the most exciting riders in the Tour and finally got his hands on stage win, and of course the yellow jersey which he wore proudly on stage 4.
He also finished the campaign fourth in the Vuelta a España, only narrowly missing out on the podium to Enric Mas, proving that he can still fight for podiums in grand tours at 31 years of age.
So this is very good news for EF Education-EasyPost, who have secured one of the world's best climbers for at least another two season.
