Stage 10 of the 2026 Tour de France saw Tadej Pogacar take his third stage win of the race. The UAE Team Emirates - XRG enjoyed a comfortable victory in Le Lioran at the end of a hilly day; whilst Isaac del Toro was the main victim from the riders who are battling for the podium.
The stage had an explosive start, with Lidl-Trek setting a very hard pace to put some of Mads Pedersen's green jersey rivals in difficulty ahead of the intermediate sprint. The Dane crossed in first place ahead of Max Kanter; with Tim Merlier already dropped in the very first kilometers of the race.
After a few hours of battling, a group of around 30 riders went up the road. Mathieu van der Poel, Romain Grégoire, Ben O'Connor, Ben Healy, Fred Wright, Kévin Vauquelin, Thymen Arensman and Alex Baudin were amongst those in front. But the group never enjoyed more than 1:30 minutes of lead, as UAE Team Emirates - XRG set a very high pace right from the moment the group went up the road.
This meant that up front, the pace never slowed down and the attacks amongst the large group were constant. The strongest would come to the front as the riders went through the many climbs. Harold Tejada and Javier Romo stood out early on but the Movistar rider went solo with 74 kilometers to go.

Richard Carapaz' daring attack

However, unable to extend his gap over the peloton, it always looked lke a doomed move. Romo was eventually caught with 38 kilometers to go at the bottom of the climb to Pas de Peyrol. The 7-kilometer climb was the hardest of the day and saw Richard Carapaz attack right after Romo's demise.
The EF Education-EasyPost rider built a gap of around 30 seconds, which was only slightly lowered towards the summit as Decathlon took the front of the peloton to gain position. UAE remained conservative on the climb, and the same happened on the Col de Pertus at first. Adam Yates pushed the pace hard at the base, but a slow down followed.
Visma picked up the pace in the group with Davide Piganzoli, but only in the final kilometer of the climb did Tadej Pogacar attack. The Slovenian's attack delay was explained shortly after as Isaac del Toro struggled and was dropped from the chasing group led by Jonas Vingegaard who didn't seek to respond directly.
Pogacar flew through Richard Carapaz and headed towards the descent already alone in front. On the final 3-kilometer long categorized ascent, the gaps over Del Toro grew; whilst Remco Evenepoel got dropped under the pace of Vingegaard in the second group.
Tadej Pogacar rode to the stage win in Le Lioran, obtaining revenge after he was beaten by Vingegaard in the same location two years prior.
Remco Evenepoel arrived to the group in the descent and in the final uphill sprint, it was Red Bull who led the way, and Evenepoel himself sprinted to second place on the day, ahead of Paul Seixas and gaining some seconds on Jonas Vingegaard who lost contact with the group in the final meters of the stage.
