The Cro Race has been following the same pattern as the Tour of Slovakia, as in every single sprint Paul Magnier continues to dominate. Today he has brought in his fourth victory of the week on stage 5 of the race, whilst Brandon McNulty has remained in the lead of the race ahead of it's final stage.
The fifth day of racing had a completely flat start and here there was a group of six: Martin Voltre, Axel Van der Tuuk, Michal Zelazowski, Swann Gloux, Casper van der Woude and Samuel Bertolli. UAE Team Emirates - XRG controlled the peloton comfortably, not having big ambitions to win the stage but instead keep everything under control for their leader Brandon McNulty who is the race leader as well.
The main action of the day took place in the climb to Plesivica, 7.4 kilometers at 5.2% which ended with 12 kilometers to go. Here INEOS Grenadiers put on a strong pace for Ben Turner in an attempt to drop Paul Magnier and other sprinters, but the peloton was still relatively intact by the top, where Magnus Sheffield briefly attacked but a peloton would head towards Sveta Nedelja heading to a sprint.
However the strong wind and reduced peloton would motivate the bravery of some, with Manuele Tarozzi setting off the front in the final kilometers only to be caught by the work of Bahrain - Victorious. Fran Miholjevic tried to surprise in the final kilometer but the Soudal - Quick-Step machine would come through in the final sprint to win once again: Paul Magnier.
In the final sprint the Frenchman timed his move to perfection and has gathered another stage win, the fourth in five stages in the Croatian race. He beat Rui Oliveira and Pau Miquel to the line. Brandon McNulty arrived in the peloton and remains as the overall classification leader.
