Binche - Chimay - Binche is one of the final Belgian semi-classics of the year but is also a very prestigious race in its own right. Despite being outside of the World Tour, the hilly race - set to take place on the 7th of October - is often an important late-season goal for many sprinters and classics specialists. It is set to start at 12:10CET and finish at 16.45CET.
The Belgian classic is mostly flat, perhaps not shown too well due to the profile's format. It is almost completely flat until the riders reach the final circuit around Binche where the differences can be made - although a sprint is the most likely outcome for this race.
The circuit will be ridden on five occasions and features a climb which is around 2 kilometers long at 2%. Now, no that can't be called a real climb, but it must be said that it starts with a 600-meter long cobbled sector and it does feature some bigger gradients at some points.
It can be grounds for attacks on several laps, before the riders descend back into the city center. The sprint will be slightly uphill, so this is a sprinter's race but definitely not one where the fast men can just afford to be relaxed in the peloton all day - and responding to attacks is also a possibility, on roads that are often narrow and favourable to small attacking groups.
