Rainbow Jersey contenders Julian Alaphilippe & Mathieu van der Poel link up en route to Zurich

Although Tadej Pogacar and Remco Evenepoel have been taking the majority of headlines before next Sunday's men's elite World Championship road race, two riders with pedigree that cannot be ruled out, are two-time former world champion Julian Alaphilippe and the current Rainbow Jersey, Mathieu van der Poel. 

As it turns out, the Frenchman and the Dutchman linked up in the airport ahead of flying to Zurich for they do battle at the 2024 World Championships. In a post on her official Instagram story, Alaphilippe's wife and Tour de France Femmes race director, Marion Rousse shares an image of the superstar duo sitting together in the airport, beaming smiles on both their faces.
