The paths of Brent Van Moer and Lotto will part after nearly a decade. The 27-year-old Belgian joined the development structure of Lotto in his first under-23 season and continued to progress the ranks until his hard work was rewarded with a (then) WorldTour promotion in the middle of 2019. The strong time trialist quickly find his place in the top division and two years later even won his first professional race with a late attack in the opening stage of Criterium du Dauphiné. Since then, the Belgian didn't get to raise his hands yet, but the victory could be just around the corner for the 4th man of 2025 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad.
"For me it felt like it was time for the next step," Van Moer said in a press release. "There were more teams interested but in Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team I found a vision that I liked. It’s a team that wants to grow. They were looking for someone for a free role in the Classics, showed the confidence in my abilities and believe I can win again."
Van Moer is not building sky castles when it comes to his ambitions though: "Realistically I won’t say I will win the Tour of Flanders but smaller Classics like Denain, Nokere or Limburg suit me. They support me in my wish to become that attacking rider again. That confidence and a bit of luck in the races can get you far."
"I am a rider who needs to race from an early breakaway or a late attack. In 2021 I have shown I can do that successfully in the Dauphiné, and almost in Tirreno-Adriatico, Ronde van Limburg [where he was sent the wrong way in winning position] and Tour de France. It’s not easy to win from an attack because the pace these days is super high, but I do hope to get back to that winning feeling again."
Van Moer was on a great trajectory in 2021, but a fractured hip set him back for nearly a full year and it took until 2023 that Van Moer started to perform again. However in the meantime, Arnaud de Lie stepped into the spotlight, which suddenly made it a tricky quest for Van Moer to succeed in his favourite races.

New experience

In his new team, there should be little to no boundaries for the 27-year-old, who will be one of Q36.5 Pro Cycling's leading figures in the Classics alongside another new recruit Fred Wright. "I look forward to finding out what working with new coaches, new sports directors, new nutritionists and other scientific staff members and new teammates can do to take that final step back to where I want to be."
"It’s an international team with lots of ambition and that gives me new energy."
What tipped the scales to ultimately choose the Swiss team from all the offers? "Frederik Frison told me it would be a good fit for me and in my conversations with Kurt Bogaerts and Doug Ryder that was soon confirmed. They have full confidence in me and that’s already a huge mental boost."
With the arrival of Brent Van Moer, we note down a sixth new recruit for Q36.5 Pro Cycling who are clearly building a strong and well-rounded team. The other new faces in the team of Doug Ryder are: Eddie Dunbar, Chris Harper, Fred Wright, Xandro Meurisse and Quinten Hermans.
