The GP Miguel Indurain is going to take place on the 4th of April and splits the headlines on the weekend of the Tour of Flanders. Over on the northeast of Spain however it is the climbers and puncheurs which will be at the forefront of the action. We take a look at the race's profile. It is expected to start and finish at 11:00 and 16:05CET.
The race was created in 1951 under the name 'Campeonato Vasco Navarro de Montana'. It was also called the GP Navarra amongst other obvious choices; but after the feats of Spanish legend Miguel Indurain, the event turned into the GP Miguel Indurain in 1999 with Stefano Gazelli winning that edition, already with some big names on the start list.
Some of Spain's very best in the modern times have won on these roads, such as Joaquím Rodríguez, Alejandro Valverde, Samuel Sánchez, Daniel Moreno and Ion Izagirre. Inbetween, Simon Yates and Brandon McNulty also left their mark on the race as very strong figures; assembling this as a very prestigious international race, which also serves as preparation for Itzulia Basque Country nowadays. In 2025 it was Thibau Nys who took the victory with an explosive late attack.

Estella-Lizarra - Estella-Lizarra, 206.1 kilometers
The race is one for the puncheurs and climbers, although none are favoured over the other. The peloton will face climbs of different lengths and gradients throughout the entire day and plenty opportunities for attacks. There are 3400 meters of climbing throughout the day and important attacks can come at any time. However are there three climbs quite close to the finish which are often used for this purpose.
The race can see it's decisive attacks earlier, but a final selection regardless of the scenario is likely to happen in the final sequence of climbs. They are 4km at 5.4%, 1.6km at 4.6% and 600 meters at 10%. All of these ascents summit in extremely quick succession within the final 10 kilometers and lead into the downhill finish in Estella; one of the most unique in the pro peloton.
