Primoz Roglic is aiming high when it comes to the final months of the 2026 season but an obstacle has gotten in his way. The Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe has been hit by a vehicle recently during training, and has been forced to skip several races.

Primoz Roglic hit by a vehicle during training

Roglic had recently been training in Livigno, using altitude to train for the key block of racing that he is preparing for.
Earlier in the season, the Slovenian was fifth at Tirreno-Adriatico, third at Milano-Torino, 16th at Itzulia Basque Country - having cracked on the final day - and 18th at the Tour de Romandie. The veteran was eighth at the Tour de Suisse in June and won the Slovenian time trial national championships.
Throughout the month of July, he avoided the high-stress environment of the Tour de France and used it to prepare for the Vuelta a España away from the spotlight. But the plan hasn't gone his way.
"Got hit by a car few days ago...I won't be participating in San Sebastian and in Burgos unfortunately," he shared in an Instagram post, showcasing large bruises in one of his thighs. "Not the best scenario, but its life,eh.Now its all systems go towards La Vuelta, we work and hope things will turn around!

Two races removed from Roglic's schedule, La Vuelta at risk?

Remco Evenepoel leads Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe at the Clásica San Sebastián this Saturday, with Primoz Roglic initially in the startlist. He was later removed from it, and now has been removed from the startlist of the Vuelta a Burgos as well.
Whilst no fractures were diagnosed, the 36-year old has required time to rest from the injuries and should head into the Vuelta without racing in his legs. The two Spanish races are in the meantime losing one of its headliners.
At La Vuelta, he should be the team leader in search of a fifth overall win. Florian Lipowitz might join him in Spain after abandoning the Tour de France; whilst it is also expected that Tadej Pogacar's participation will be confirmed over the coming days.
