PREVIEW | Tour des Alpes Maritimes 2024 - AG2R, Israel, FDJ and Arkéa deploy big weapons to fight for yellow jersey in two explosive days

Preview. On the 17th and 18th of February the riders take on the Tour des Alpes Maritimes. In the Southwest of France the riders tackle two hilly days, in what is one of France's several early-season stage-races.

The first day is hilly but very open. From Levens to Antibes the riders find little flat roads, and a circuit that wraps up the day of racing. There are several small ascents throughout the circuit that the riders tackle four times into Valbonne. The finale will then take place in Antibes, a downhill one, after a very explosive day of racing.

Stage 2 is harder and perhaps just as important in the bigger picture. It's short and explosive nature, with only 132 kilometers in distance, may prove deadly for some. The riders start right away with the famous Col d'Éze and tackle several ascents that are made famous in Paris-Nice. At the end of the day the peloton climbs 3.6 kilometers at 5.3%, which summit just 3 kilometers before the finish in Vence which will be in a plateau.
