Preview. Between the Australian World Tour competitions we've got the
Surf Coast Classic on the menu. Formerly known as the Race Torquay, the race suits classics specialists but may very well also end in a bunch sprint.
The race begins right away with a long climb, of 9.3 kilometers at 4.3%. This will provide an opportunity for strong riders to go up the road and put the peloton under pressure. The finale, slightly hilly, may put some into difficulties and so plenty riders have chances. Most of the race is rather flat, but in the final 8 kilometers there are two small hilltops and a descent which could instigate dangerous moves.
Lorne - Torquay, 155.6 kilometers
