Paul Penhoët set for three months on the sidelines after knee surgery

Although for many of the peloton's riders, the 2024 season is soon to be underway, for Groupama - FDJ's Paul Penhoët, knee surgery has ensured his campaign opening is much delayed.

"Paul Penhoët suffers from a ligament injury in his right knee, requiring surgery," reads an official announcement by the Groupama - FDJ official X (Twitter) account. "He will be absent from competitions for approximately three months. We wish him a good recovery."

The 22-year-old Frenchman took victory at the Tour du Finistère in 2023, also finishing runner-up at the Tour de Vendée. With 2024 the final year of his current contract, Penhoët will be hoping this injury doesn't deny him a chance to shine this campaign.
