Amstel Gold Race is one of the leading Dutch one day races, with recent illustrious winners such as Tom Pidcock, Tadej Pogacar and Wout van Aert among others. For a long while though, the short-term future of the race has looked very much in doubt over recently though, due to a shortage of police available in the region.

In June in The Hague, Netherlands, 27,000 police officers are set to be deployed for a NATO summit bringing the world's political leaders together to discuss hot topics such as climate change. Although the Amstel Gold Race takes place in April, the massive preparation required for the NATO summit caused serious concern for the race, with the threat of no police escort being provided a very real and potentially fatal concern. Thankfully though, the panic is now over and the race organisation has confirmed that in 2025, the Amstel Gold Race will have police escort for both the men and women.

"We are very pleased with this commitment and would like to thank everyone who has contributed positively to this. We have also exerted pressure at a higher level in the recent period," said race director Leo van Vliet on the matter.

As such, the race is now set to take place as scheduled on Sunday, the 20th of April.
