With another bright and attacking performance on the final stage of the 2024 Tour of the Alps, Romain Bardet secured himself a top-5 in the general classification. Good form to build upon heading to the Giro d'Italia.
“We wanted to make the race hard on today’s final stage and did a good job with that. I tried to make some moves in the final, but it was hard to really shake up things in GC," assesses the Frenchman in conversation with the official website of the Team DSM-Firmenich PostNL side in his post-stage interview.
Proving just how consistently solid Bardet has been this week, the former Tour de France runner-up actually finished in the top-10 of all five stages at the Tour of the Alps. "Overall it was a positive week for us," Bardet concludes. "This was a good sign towards the coming races, even though we didn’t get the result we were coming for.”
With Liege-Bastogne-Liege on the programme this Sunday, Bardet will then begin preparations for the Giro d'Italia, the 16th Grand Tour of his career.
