Olympic champion Lisa Brennauer announces her retirement

Lisa Brennauer has revealed her retirement plan. The German rider will retire on 21 August, making the European Championships her last race.

"I think it's super nice to have the end of a wonderful career take place in Munich, in Bayern, so close to home," said Brennauer. She continues, "I have often asked myself in recent years: how long will I continue? Last year there were, of course, big highlights with the Olympic Games, the European Championships and the World Championships. That is why I started thinking more in the winter, and at one point, I knew: let's do it like this: Munich, the European Championships, a wonderful conclusion."

Her last race was the Tour de France Femmes, in which she secured the 58th position in GC. She had also been European pursuit champion in 2018. She won the Ceratizit Challenge by La Vuelta twice and achieved second place in the 2021 Tour of Flanders.
