Nairo Quintana is about to make his official debut in the 2024 season at the Colombian national championships, where he will once again don the
Movistar Team jersey.
The climber, who will later race the Tour Colombia, has given an interview to ex cyclist Luis Pasamontes in 'El corte bueno' of Ciclismo a Fondo in which he talked about the insults he receives from keyboard warriors on social media. Quintana urges those people who seem to live to insult on social networks, to dedicate their efforts to supporting the cyclists they admire and not to insulting those they dislike.
"And there they also comment their discomfort, don't they? To some of them I answer, rather than trying to annoy, if you have someone else or are a little more of a follower of someone else, support them and write good things to them instead of writing bad things to someone else. We are human beings and so many words can do such great harm in difficult times. People are not aware of the damage they can do. There are many people who suffer from bullying and commit suicide," says Quintana.
As the interviewer Luis Pasamontes himself commented after his talk, you have to agree completely with Nairo Quintana on this issue. "Well, 100% with Nairo. A lot of character, poorly educated and unscrupulous, who do not know the damage they can do to vulnerable people. So ignorant and empty that they spend more time insulting than cheering."
