Movistar Team under fire from Colombia for deciding to have Nairo Quintana as Enric Mas's domestique in 2024

Movistar Team starts an 2024 exciting season in terms of its roster, which has been greatly renewed by the large number of signings made. Above all, the return of Nairo Quintana to the Spanish team stands out, although not everything has been light and colourful.
After Movistar announced its leaders for the three Grand Tours of the 2024 season, the Spain-based team has been receiving a lot of criticism from the veteran Colombian rider's most loyal fans. The reason? They believe Quintana should always be the team leader, reports media outlet Antena 2.
Movistar Team's plan is for Enric Mas to be their main leader this year, and as such he will be their main contender for the Tour de France general classification, while Nairo Quintana will ride the Giro d'Italia.
The controversy, besides focusing on the aspect of Mas being the reference in the Grande Boucle, the most important cycling race in the world, resides mainly in the Vuelta a España, where both riders will participate in search of the overall victory, but with Enric Mas as leader of the squad.
Will the words of the South American's supporters cause Movistar to change their plans for 2024? That remains to be seen.

Its not the time for Quntana to demand leaderhip. When he performs better than Mas, then naturally thing will fall into places.
Movistar doesn't need to give a space for Quintana. But they did. And it's a Spanish Team. If the Colombia fans want Qunitana to lead then have Colombia team. This war about Colombia vs Spain... is really stupid. Just get over with. It's 2024.
As of now he has no record for last year and Mas will take precedence. If he can prove he is better than Mas throughout the season, then yes. In the Giro he is participating, we can see how he is performing against Pogi.

- I thought Remco raced positively and confidently. He put his team on the front, kept himself in position, and stayed out of trouble in incredibly challenging conditions. He put himself in position to win, or at least contend for the podium. There is no way a guy with only 2 prior race days can know exactly how he is going to respond to rocketing up that final ascent of the Mur. Once he saw he couldn't follow Pogacar, he still kept fighting for a podium spot until he blew up. I appreciate how this generation of riders races positively, rather than waiting for favorites to make every move.
