After Movistar announced its leaders for the three Grand Tours of the 2024 season, the Spain-based team has been receiving a lot of criticism from the veteran Colombian rider's most loyal fans. The reason? They believe Quintana should always be the team leader, reports media outlet Antena 2.
Movistar Team's plan is for Enric Mas to be their main leader this year, and as such he will be their main contender for the Tour de France general classification, while Nairo Quintana will ride the Giro d'Italia.
The controversy, besides focusing on the aspect of Mas being the reference in the Grande Boucle, the most important cycling race in the world, resides mainly in the Vuelta a España, where both riders will participate in search of the overall victory, but with Enric Mas as leader of the squad.
