Óscar Freire is simply one of the greatest Spanish cyclists of all time. It is his 18-year-old son, Marcos Freire, who has signed for the development team of the best team in the world, UAE Team Emirates.

Marcos has obtained 8 victories in 2024 in his category: the Tabira Saria, the Gran Premio El Baruco - Ayuntamiento de Camargo, the Memorial Chele Campos, the Cantabria Time Trial Championship, the Vicente López Carril Trophy, two stages in the Vuelta Ciclista a Valladolid Junior and the Escalante Circuit. After announcing his arrival to UAE, the young Cantabrian rider spoke to the national newspaper El Diario Montañés, where he expressed his feelings after two seasons in the Bathco Cycling Team.

"I am happy. Very happy. Because I will be joining a really great team. This year has been the best team in the world. To be able to be there is already a dream. I was there when I was a sophomore cadet, in the youth categories, and also in this 2024. Three times. They treat you as if you were a pro," said the 2006-born cyclist, before describing himself: "I'm a fast rider.
