The general classification at the 2025 Tour de l'Avenir has been completely shaken up on stage 2 as a large and talented breakaway dominated the day and put considerable time into race-winning hopefuls. In the end, there was more British success too as Elliot Rowe took the stage win.
A big 20-rider breakaway got themselves up the road early on, including a few notable names such as the Brit Elliot Rowe, Team Visma | Lease a Bike youngster Tim Rex and Frenchman Maxime Decomble, who was the best placed on GC of the group having started the day just 25 seconds down on race leader and compatriot Paul Seixas. With 20km to go, the advantage of the breakaway was still over three minutes and as such, the break could begin to think about winning the stage.
The breakaway was largely still all together as they entered the final 10km of the day, with no huge, group-splitting attacks having managed to change the situation. In the fight for the line, it was then Britain's Elliot Rowe who took the second win for Team GB in as many days at the 2025 Tour de l'Avenir after Noah Hoobs' previous victory, out-kicking Germany's Louis Leidert and Luxembourg's Alexandre Kess.
