Tudor Pro Cycling Team's recent winning run continues. After Julian Alaphilippe took victory in Quebec on Friday, Michael Storer has taken a wonderful solo win at the 2025 edition of the Memorial Marco Pantani in Italy this Saturday afternoon.
In a frantic and rapid start to the day's racing, there was still no breakaway allowed to free themselves from the peloton after more than three hours in the saddle for the riders. When separation did finally come for the first time, Davide Piganzoli was among six riders leading the charge at the front. By 65km to go, that group had grown to around 15 riders, but with the peloton keeping close contact at around 20 seconds down.
By 35km to go, the lead group totalled just 2 riders - Michael Storer and Natnael Tesfatsion - with a much reduced peloton at just over a minute down. As the duo continued to work well together, they'd actually extended their advantage over the chase to 1:40 with around 20km to go. As the finish line neared however, the gap started to come in again and with 10km left for Storer and Tesfatsion, the countering Alexandre Delettre was within 45 seconds.
With 4km to go, Storer then went solo, kicking clear of his companion at the front. From there, there was no stopping the Aussie ace, who has already won the Tour of the Alps in a breakthrough 2025 season, as he rode solo all the way to the finish line for a very impressive victory.
