It wasn't a great day for the Brits in Romandie as former Giro d'Italia winner Tao Geoghegan Hart was a DNS at the start of the day, and then INEOS Grenadiers' GC leader Oscar Onley abandoned early on stage 1 through illness. There was just the one further DNF with Hamish McKenzie also out of the race.

A 10 centimetre long incision was needed to clear it out and it then needed a drain. I still have the scar. The recovery was long.
