The fight for the general classification at the 2025 Tour de Suisse Women has already exploded into life on the opening stage! Marlen Reusser won the stage ahead of Demi Vollering in a two-up sprint, whilst the rest of the race finished minutes down.
Former Team SD Worx-Protime teammates, Demi Vollering and Marlen Reusser - now riding for FDJ - Suez and Movistar Team respectively - attacked clear of all their rivals with around 60km to go. Then, despite the finale being a relatively flat one, the pair continued to hold a strong advantage over the chase, using the experience of being past teammates to work together well and keep rolling through.
As such, with 10km to go, Vollering and Reusser were closing in on a two minute lead over their nearest chasers. In the fight for the stage win, it was then a two way battle. Vollering was the first to open the sprint, but it was Reusser who emerged victorious.
