Lotte Kopecky solos to stage 1 win at the Tour de France Femmes and takes the Maillot Jaune

Team SD Worx's Lotte Kopecky has soloed to a stunning stage win on the opening day of racing at the 2023 Tour de France Femmes, taking the Maillot Jaune

The 2023 Tour de France Femmes opened with a fast and chaotic finale. With the only categorised climb of the day coming within the final 10 kilometres, many of the peloton's sprinters were out the back of the race coming into the finish.

With just under 10km to go, Lotte Kopecky launched an attack, taking the polka-dot jersey in the process. The chase behind the Belgian stalled the Team SD Worx rider held 30 seconds advantage into the final 5km. That gap only extended to the line, Kopecky a solo winner with Lorena Wiebes 2nd and Charlotte Kool third.
