Lorena Wiebes wins women's Nokere Koerse with incredible sprint

The Danilith Nokere Koerse WE was won by Lorena Wiebes in a bunch sprint. The Team DSM sprinter has taken her third consecutive win at one-day races after also having won the GP Oetingen and the Ronde van Drenthe.

The 125-kilometer long race was suited to those who like cobbled sectors and aggressive racing. However, despite it's rough nature, it's a race that's regularly decided in a sprint. Crashes dealt some damage in the peloton, as did some attacks throughout the final hour, but none able to keep a gap over the peloton.

In the end the peloton went relatively compact into the final sprint at the Nokereberg, with the cobblestones and the slight gradients making it a very complicated finale. Jumbo-Visma put Noemi Rüegg in prime position however quickly she was swarmed, Wiebes got herself in the front and easily pulled away from her rivals. She took a convincing win with several bike lengths over Lotte Kopecky and Marta Bastianelli who rounded up the podium.
