Lorena Wiebes has been dominating the
Baloise Ladies Tour .She won the third stage with a sprint finish.
A breakaway of eight riders was formed, which included Van Dijk (Trek-Segafredo), Lorena Wiebes and Georgi Pfeiffer (Team DSM), Jackson, Marthe Truyen (Plantur-Pura), Anaïs Morichon (Arkéa Pro Cycling) and Georgie Howe (Keukens Redant Cycling). However, the peloton caught up to them 30 kilometers before the finish line.
In the final kilometers, Van Dijk and Cordon-Ragot attempted an early attack, but the peloton kept them in check. Wiebes crossed the line first with a sprint, followed by
Ellen van Dijk who finished second. Daria Pikulik secured the bronze.
“Today we tried to make the race hard at the Berendries with Liane, but everything came back together. When we went for the first sprint, Pfeiffer and I ended up in the breakaway. On the last lap, one girl went on the attack and Pfeiffer did a massive job to chase her down, and I was happy to finish the teamwork off,” said Wiebes. She has maintained her top position in GC with a lead of 11 seconds over her closest rival and first stage winner, Ellen van Dijk.
