Kobe Goossens achieved his first win as he completed the Trofeo Andratx race. The Belgian cyclist created a lead in the final stretch and finished alone ahead of his opponents.
At the start, Goossens was accompanied by Bora–Hansgrohe rider Cian Uijtdebroeks, but he was unable to keep up and dropped off, leaving Goossens alone at the finish. "I had to ask my team leader if I could release Uijtdebroeks," said Gossens in the post race interview.
He further added, "But in the descents, I kept going full throttle and eventually managed to unload Uijtdebroeks. Then I had no other choice but to go full throttle.I knew that a minute and a half would be enough to survive the final climb. That was exactly my lead in the final too.”
This victory holds great significance to him and he hopes it will be the first of many to come. "Getting my first pro win here gives me a special feeling. The team is very strong, I already noticed that at the training camp. And the atmosphere in the team is really incredible. That makes us bring out the best in each other,” concluded Goossens.
