23-year-old Italian, Kevin Colleoni has departed Team Jayco AlUla after three years with the Australian-based outfit, joining Intermarché-Circus-Wanty on a two-year deal.
“This new adventure is an important step in my career. I am convinced that I will end up in an environment where I will have the opportunity to grow as a rider. For example, the sporting management supports my ambition to participate in a Grand Tour for the first time, which would be an important turning point in my development," says Colleoni. “I am eager to show what I am capable of and put this long period of physical problems behind me. My new team believes in my capabilities and my intention is to thank them for this trust by giving everything and achieving results when this is my mission."
The arrival of Colleoni is also something of much delight for Intermarché-Circus-Wanty's performance manager Aike Visbeek. “He will fulfill two important roles. In the WorldTour races he will assist Louis Meintjes and in smaller stage races he can take his own chances," Visbeek explains. "We will encourage the development of his talent as much as possible, that is a great challenge for us. A first participation in a Grand Tour could potentially be an important step in the career of this young climber.”
