Jonas Vingegaard seems to have a set date to finally return to the peloton, after the World Championships where he'll be absent and some confusion has been revolving around the Danish team for the upcoming race.
Team national coach Morten Benekou told Danish BT that “it is unclear to us why Vingegaard will not ride for the national team," in response to the absence of the Tour de France champion. Following the Tour de France sources within Jumbo-Visma said Vingegaard took a long time to recover physically and mentally, and has postponed his initially scheduled return at the Tour of Denmark. With his results and the hilly route in Wollongong, it would be expected that he'd ride the event.

"About the World Championship, they [Jumbo-Visma] said that the race did not match his goals for the autumn, but Jonas himself gave no reason for his cancellation," Benekou added. The Dane will be targeting Il Lombardia later this season, as updates on his return have finally been given.
Ciro Scognamiglio from Gazzetta dello Sport has reported that Vingegaard may return to the peloton at the Cro Race later this month, a late return in preparation towards Il Lombardia where he isn't expected to be within contention for the win due to lack of racing, however will be a rider to eye.
